Layouts from March Sunday Crop

I missed going to Marlene's Sunday crop in April ... spent the Sunday having a grand time visiting with family and friends at my daughter's bridal shower. Post coming soon about the shower.

But, back at the March crop, I did do these layouts!

Design Team Submission

Well, a friend gave me a link to a call for Design Team members for a scrapbook company. Today was the deadline, and I just finished sending in my three entries. Going to keep this a surprise overall. Would be exciting to be selected, but there is such awesome talent out there, so we'll wait and see. I will share one picture that is part of others I submitted to this call.

Supreme Scrap Tournament - Challenge 2

For this challenge: 2-page/double page layout ... choose your own theme ... monochromatic color scheme ... minimum one photo ... one photo must be partly on the left and partly on the right ... one photo needs to be black and white ... restricted from using black anywhere on the layout, including ink, paint, pen lines, journalling or any other elements ... one only black would be the black and white photo ... cannot use brown to antique elements unless brown is the color you choose for your monochromatic color scheme ... materials you may use: embellishments, ink, media stuff, everything that you want in the monochromatic color

My first thought was pink ... then I switched to white. Love doing work in white and so was busy pulling out all sorts of bits and pieces that I wanted to incorporated. As usual, the vision in my mind is not transpired as I worked this one through. Still, I love the way it turned out. Hope you enjoy it too!

Supreme Scrap Tournament - 2014 - Challenge 1

Last Fall, my dear friend Dawn in Saskatoon managed to pursuade me to become part of Team Canada and register for the Supreme Scrap Tournament 2014. Challenge 1 arrived this week : Make a double-page layout or double mixed media project that shows where you live. But it all has to be within 1,000 steps from your home!!! You cannot use any spray inks! You will have to use at least 3 photos on your project (scrapbooking and mixed media). You will have to add a visible journalling of at least 50 words. And so here it is. My two-page layout is about my backyard and one of our dearest family members who definitely loved the backyard of our home. Our pet dog Bishop who shared so many memories with us from 1996 to 2012. The journalling reads:

He was the runt of the litter and the only one that hobbled on his wobbly little legs to trek over.to visit with us. One ear markedly down and the other alert. My husband had laid down on the ground and the pup cautiously crawled his way up onto his chest and borrowed his little face under my husband’s chin. And that is how a puppy finds his Master!

From the Fall 1996 to Summer 2012, 16 years, dear Bishop shared our home. True to his breed, this Norwegian Elkhound was determinedly stubborn, loyal and always stood his ground. Our large backyard at 10 Swan Lake Bay in Winnipeg was his heaven. His playground. The place where he made unforgettable memories for our family. Winter was his favourite month. Especially after a snowfall. The severity of the winter temperatures never stopped him from enjoying a jog through the mounds of snow .. burrowing his face as far down as he could … coming up and smiling at us. He loved to roll and roll in the snow … and kindly blessed us with the snowy offerings that clung to his coat when he came into the house. In his old age, when standing used all of his energy, I used to take the snow and rub it into his fur and he would turn and give me that all too familiar smile. Memories of home. Our home that misses the pitter patter of his paws .. the boom of his bark .. the warmth of his company. The home backyard is not the same any more without Bishop sharing our lives. Like the snowflakes that come back year after year, his memories linger in our home backyard .. and I am always reminded of his smile, even on the coldest of winter days!

Puzzle Piece Challenge

In November, I joined a puzzle piece challenge -- where 10 crafty gals (from across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia) exchange puzzle pieces with each other. The object is the pieces that each of us received (would be nine in total, from the other gals)would be altered and then returned to their owners. This is a first for me and I had so much fun. Have to admit, I was on a shabby chic kind of spin - quite dimensional for the most part! These are the pieces that I altered and returned back to their original home.

Pineridge Hollow and the Christmas Home Tour (for Habitat for Humanity)

Samantha and I met girlfriend Ashley today at Pineridge Hollow for a fabulous buffet brunch at our table. I indulged and had a hot chocolate with Bailey's - uber yum! Then the two of us went on a bus tour of six local homes that were decked out in Christmas regalia, enough to make me want to get home and start my Christmas decorating! Have never done this tour before, and I think it will now become an annual trek. And yes, there were some little things at the store-side of the Pineridge Hollow that made their way back home with me!

And, of course, I had my camera with me and managed to snap some Christmas decor. Enjoy.
